“Interpol – The Trail of Dr. Chaos” turns you into an investigator who is called in to participate in a very important investigation. When you enter the game you’ll see the following message in your laptop screen, written to you from the Interpol International Director:
“Hello, Operative X: A mysterious and dangerous criminal believed to have been in hiding for over a decade has suddenly re-surfaced. We have commissioned all government agencies to collaborate their efforts in resolving this potential catastrophic matter. The target of our mission is Dr. Vladimir Chaosky (Dr. Chaos). We’ve been trying to track him since the Cold War, and no more than ever must bring him to justice. Your mission is to apprehend the evil doctor through global investigative work. Your expertise in tracking fugitives and analyzing crime scenes will help lead you to succeed”.
The game itself basically consists on looking and picking items from different locations, following a list provided by the game. You have to look the scenes very carefully, trying to find the items on the list. When you see an item, just click on it to update the list. In order to finish the level you have to find all the items on the list. The first mission is at Moscow, where there are three different locations to investigate.
When you first enter the game, you’ll get to the main menu – which simulates a laptop screen - with the following options on it:
- Change Alias: After you create one or more players (aliases), they’ll be saved. When you enter into this submenu, you’ll be asked for a name as a new player. It’s possible to have a list of different players and record their performance. This way, you can play home tournaments with family and friends.
-Investigate: this option leads you right to the first mission and an introduction to it. You will see some hints on your first steps, which is the easiest way to learn how to play the game. If you already know how to play, just turn off the hints and keep playing.
- Interface Options: this is the menu from which you can set some game options like sound volume, music volume, ambient sounds volume, and full screen.
- Top Operatives: the equivalent to a high scores screen.
- Exit facility: no further explanation required.
While you’re playing the game, you can always click on the Controls button to access to a pop-up menu with these options:
- Main: to abandon the game and go back to the main menu.
- Help: to see some help information about the game.
- Options: to access the options menu.
- Mission: to see the mission information again.
- Map: to see the different locations to investigate on the current mission.
